MAXON CEO and Founder, Harald Egel, makes second trip to Singapore

Mr Harald Egel, MAXON CEO and Founder, and Ms Friederike Bruckert, Director of International Sales and Marketing, were back in Singapore last week.


Their first visit to Singapore was five years ago in October 2005.  The special occasion for this visit was to announce the setting up of a new MAXON ASEAN Competence Centre in Singapore in partnership with its existing distributor, IM Innovations Pte Ltd. With this new centre, MAXON Computer GmbH, the software developer and manufacturer of CINEMA 4D and BodyPaint 3D, intends to expand its presence in Singapore and other ASEAN countries.


Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal and CEO of Temasek Polytechnic hosted the MAXON delegation on their first official business meeting.  After the sharing session, the visitors enjoyed a sumptuous lunch hosted by Mr Boo at Top Table at the Culinary Institute in Temasek Polytechnic.

Next, the visitors were invited to experience the various immersive 3D interactive solutions at the Interactive Digital Centre Asia. They also learnt how professionals from various industries, educators and hundreds of students have been attending 3D training workshops at the 3D Media Studio, the MAXON appointed ASEAN Authorised Training Centre for CINEMA 4D sited within IDC Asia in Temasek Polytechnic.

Temasek Polytechnic also shared more about how engineering students in the Diploma in 3D Interactive Media Technology is learning to use software tools like CINEMA 4D for engineering visualization.

Finally, a photo-taking session with staff of both IM Innovations and our strategic partner Temasek Polytechnic to round off the visit.

On the second day, Mr Aubeck Kam, the CEO of Media Development Authority with representatives from Economic Development Board welcomed the MAXON delegation at Fusionopolis.  Mr Kam was heartened to know that IM Innovations have been training students as young as 9 year olds with 3D interactive digital media skills.  He was also delighted that MAXON has been sponsoring the prizes for the annual 3D competition for secondary schools.  MAXON also shared their intention to expand their presence in ASEAN by establishing the MAXON ASEAN Competence Centre in Singapore, the second in Asia after Tokyo. The MDA team subsequently provided a guided tour and briefed MAXON on the various media initiatives and key projects.

As more post-production and visual effect companies are using CINEMA 4D in Singapore, the MAXON delegation visited CINEMA 4D users in MediaCorp at Caldecott Broadcast Station and SPE Networks - Asia at Changi Business Park Central 2.

Last but not least, MAXON CEO also visited Pasir Ris Secondary School.  This is one of the 3 secondary schools enrolled in the Applied Subject called Creative 3D Animation.  The first cohort of 60 students in Secondary 3 from Dunman Secondary, Pasir Ris Secondary and Temasek Secondary school took the subject in 2008 and sat for the Applied Subject GCE ‘O’ level exam in 2009.
