With the support of IMDA, IM Innovations and MAXON Competence Centre Singapore-ASEAN organise and held our inaugural event at Pixel Studios on 21 June 2017. More than 80-strong crowd witnessed the amazing display of visual effects produced by our guest presenter.
The guest presenter for this seminar is Lars Scholten, an Amsterdam-based CG artist and trainer from CyBear who has done impressive projects for clients like Disney Channel, KLM, Liberty Global and several Dutch TV networks. Lars is also a MAXON Certified Trainer and Lead Instructor for Cinema 4D as well as an Adobe Certified Expert in Adobe Illustrator CC. He also teaches at the College of MultiMedia (CMM) in Amsterdam.
One key project he presented is the Liberty Global Spark VR project which won the PromaxBDA Europe Gold award. It is done by a small team comprising a script writer, the Art Director, a CG artist and a sound designer. It was completed in 4 weeks, including post-production and rendering.
He shared about the typical production pipeline for freelancers and small studios by showcasing the production workflow, concepts and planning that went into some of his recent projects, most notably for Liberty Global Spark and Disney XD.
Offering a glimpse into his own experience as a freelancer, he explained the pros and cons of being one, handling your team and clients, as well as the current possibilities of Virtual Reality (VR) Technology.
In this seminar, Lars also showed exactly why CG artists want to use Cinema 4D, a 3D modelling software, as the tool for your work as a 3D artist. He demonstrated its simple interface, and the ability to create amazing 3D content as well as tips and techniques on modelling, seamless integration with compositing software like Adobe After Effects, 3D motion graphics and rigging and animation.
Lars captivated his audience with his overflowing charisma and astounding techniques and knowledge.
The event was incredibly well-received! The audience were extremely intrigued and focused on the techniques and topics that were presented at hand, and asked many questions as well. There was a networking session at the end of the seminar for attendees to mix and mingle. Those who could not make it for this event, definitely get ready to catch the next one!
